Smoky Biscuits - Jack Jack

Smoky Biscuits

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tablespoon baking powder

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1 teaspoon No. 66 Jack Jack spice blend

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cut into small pieces

  • 3/4 cup buttermilk

Instructions:

  • Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and Jack-Jack spice blend.

  • Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, cut the butter into the flour mixture until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  • Add the buttermilk to the flour mixture and stir until just combined.

  • Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently for 1-2 minutes.

  • Pat the dough out into a 1/2-inch thick rectangle.

  • Use a biscuit cutter or a sharp knife to cut out biscuits.

  • Place the biscuits onto the prepared baking sheet.

  • Bake the biscuits for 12-15 minutes or until they are golden brown.

  • Serve hot with butter or your favorite spread.
