Compound Butter

Flavored butter, also known as compound butter, is a popular ingredient in many cuisines around the world. It's made by mixing butter with various ingredients, such as herbs, spices, or fruits, to create a unique and flavorful spread. Some popular examples of flavored butter include garlic butter, honey butter, and herb butter. Flavored butter has been enjoyed for centuries, dating back to medieval times.

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature

  • 1 tablespoon of your choice of Oak City Spice Blends. We recommend Cowboy Crunch, Oda Mae, Firecracker, or French Countryside.

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the room-temperature butter, your choice of Oak City Spice Blends, salt, and black pepper.

  2. Use a fork to mix all the ingredients until evenly combined.

  3. Transfer the butter mixture to a sheet of plastic wrap, shaping it into a log or a cylinder.

  4. Roll the plastic wrap tightly around the butter and twist the ends to seal it completely.

  5. Chill the butter in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, or until it is firm.

  6. Once the butter is chilled and firm, slice it into rounds and serve it immediately, or store the butter in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. This Compound Butter is a perfect accompaniment to crusty bread, grilled meats, roasted vegetables, or pasta dishes. The rich, herby butter is sure to add an extra touch of flavor to any meal. Enjoy!
